Upload Videos to Microsoft Stream

Microsoft Stream is a video platform that allows users to create, share, and view content across Microsoft apps. After you've uploaded the video to OneDrive or SharePoint, it's simple to take advantage of the multitude of features built into Stream. When you upload a video to Microsoft Stream, the default storage space is OneDrive:

  1. Log in to Cardinal Apps to open Stream.
  2. Select Upload.
  3. Choose your video file from your device's file picker.
  4. Leave to save to OneDrive or "Change location" to select a specific folder or SharePoint site and select Upload to finish.
  5. Take advantage of all the Stream features.

In-Depth Walkthrough


Step 1: Open Stream via Cardinal Apps

Log in to Cardinal Apps and open the Stream app, found within the Office 365 Apps tab.



Step 2: Start the Upload Process

To upload a video, locate and click on the upload button in the upper left corner of the Stream page. Alternatively, you can drag and drop your video file to this area to initiate the upload process. If you opt for the drag-and-drop method, proceed directly to step 4.


Note: If you don't have a video to upload, you can select "Screen recording" to record yourself or your screen.


Step 3: Select the File to Upload

You'll need to select the video file on your computer that you want to upload to Stream. Once you've found the video file, select the Open button in the file window to proceed.


Step 4: Choose Where the Video Is Stored

Next, select where you'd like to upload your video. The default location is your personal OneDrive, which is only visible and accessible to you. You can choose the "Change location" option to select a different location to upload the video, including other SharePoint sites. When you've selected a location, select Upload to proceed.


Step 5: Take Advantage of Stream Features

After your upload is complete, you will be taken directly to the video within the Stream video player. Congratulations! Your video has been uploaded and can now be shared and configured with a variety of built-in settings through the 'Video Settings' panel. Try adding chapters, creating a transcript, trimming the video, or adding interactive callouts to enhance your video and reach its' maximum potential.
