Submit a Microsoft OneDrive File for a Canvas Assignment
Before you begin...
Some assignments in Canvas might be configured to allow file submissions. Files can be manually uploaded from your local computer, but there's an option to leverage cloud storage offered to students at UIW, called Microsoft OneDrive. Applications like Word, PowerPoint, or Excel use OneDrive as cloud storage and Canvas allows you to seamlessly submit files stored from OneDrive. This guide will walk you through submitting assignments from your UIW OneDrive account.
Step 1
Within the Course Navigation, click the Assignments link. Alternatively, find the assignment within the course module.
Step 2
Click the title of the assignment that you'd like to complete
Step 3
Under 'Choose a submission type' select the More () option, and then select 'Microsoft OneDrive' from the drop-down menu.
Step 4
Within the assignment window, you'll see a prompt to sign in using a Microsoft account. Wait patiently for the 'Pick an account' window to appear and select the @student.uiwtx.edu address that appears or login with your UIW credentials.
If you do not see a pop-up or aren't redirected to pick an account, you might have pop-ups blocked within your browser. Try again using either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Step 5
Locate the file you'd like to upload. Click on the name of the file [1], then click the Submit button [2]. You cannot select Folders, only individual files.
Step 6
After a moment, you'll see the selected file populate under 'File Name'. To submit more than one file, repeat steps 3-5 again to select another file, adding it to the submission list.
Once you're finished selecting you file(s), click the 'Submit Assignment' button.
