We recommend the person experiencing an issue contact support themselves as every device needs specific troubleshooting. Calling support on behalf of a student is not recommended. UIW ExamSoft Administrators Legacy users have a key administrator within their department. The key administrator is the only person with full permissions to manage settings, access, and features. Enterprise, however, is managed in partnership by both the UIW Instructional Technology team and department administrators. The instructional technology team ensures all departments have an assigned space, test bank courses, and synced Canvas courses to effectively use the system each term. Department administrators add students, give instructors access to their courses, determine categories for tracking, and set policy on the use of assessment settings, category usage, and reporting features.

ExamSoft Enterprise Test Bank Requirement
ExamSoft Enterprise is an assessment platform used by select health profession programs at UIW. This guide explains the difference between test bank courses and live courses as well as the processes for accurately using them in ExamSoft Enterprise. Note: ExamSoft Legacy uses folders rather than test bank courses. Folders are not a feature in Enterprise. Test Bank Courses vs Live Courses All questions and assessments are to be created in Test Bank courses, then duplicated to a live course for student access. Test bank courses serve as persistent storage and do not have student enrollments. Live courses have student enrollments, but you lose access to them after a term has ended. Naming conventions help you tell the difference: Test Bank term vs Name Matches the LMS Courses Use of Test Banks: Required Process The use of test bank courses in Enterprise is a required process. All instructors create assessment templates then duplicate them to live courses. There are two types of assessment duplications, unlinked and linked. Unsure which option to use? Consult with your department on whether to create Unlinked or Linked duplicates during this process. Unlinked Assessment Considerations Unlinked assessments make a unique, separate copy. This method does not support combined reporting. You can't run a single report on multiple assessments unless they are linked. You can modify the duplicate without any restrictions. Linked Assessment Considerations Linked assessments are connected copies, where the original and the duplicate are treated as one assessment for reporting purposes. When reports are generated, the data is combined as if the two assessments are one. The duplicate can have unique settings for posting but has the same assessment options and questions as the original. To link assessments in different courses, you must be a course admin for both courses. On the Assessment Options page, select Enable Editing to convert a linked assessment to unlinked. Linked assessments have a menu option to see a list of linked assessments and view the combined report. On the Assessments page, linked assessments have a clock icon.

ExamSoft Canvas Sync and Archive Process
ExamSoft is an assessment platform used by select health profession programs at UIW. Each term the UIW Instructional Technology team works with each department to sync ExamSoft with Canvas courses and archive past ExamSoft courses. This guide explains the Canvas sync and archive process. Note: The department adds faculty to test bank courses, and those courses can be used at any time separately from the process outlined in this guide. Step 1: Banner Course Schedule Each March, June, and November, the Banner feed creates Canvas courses from the official UIW course schedule. This process takes place 60 days before undergraduate courses begin. Every course listed in the Banner schedule gets a Canvas course shell, regardless of student enrollments or the course being currently offered for the term. Step 2: Canvas Course Report Shared with Department Admin Since the Banner schedule often creates more Canvas courses than are used, a Canvas report is provided to your department administrator to identify the Canvas courses to be synced with ExamSoft. Step 3: Faculty Publish Canvas Courses The sync process requires Canvas courses be published to work. Therefore, an appropriate course publish deadline is determined by your department administrator and a reminder is communicated via announcement in Canvas. Faculty are asked to publish their Canvas course by this deadline or, if they are unable to meet the deadline, email canvas@uiwtx.edu to request a manual sync once they have published their course. Step 4: ExamSoft Synced with Canvas After the publish deadline, all courses indicated on the Canvas report are synced. Any course not published at this time, requires a manual sync once published. Step 5: Department Admin Adds Faculty Once courses are synced, the department administrator adds faculty as course administrators. Students are synced automatically based on Canvas course enrollments. Step 6: Past Courses Archived Each term, previous courses from past terms are archived to streamline the view of courses in ExamSoft. Courses can be unarchived if need be.
