Camtasia a video creation and editing software perfect for creating screen recordings and instructional videos. Whether you’re preparing a lesson, offering a step-by-step guide, or sharing feedback, Camtasia helps you produce professional-looking videos that enhance the learning experience and keep your students engaged. Camtasia Availability Camtasia is available as a downloadable application for all faculty and staff at UIW. Download Camtasia for macOS Download Camtasia for Windows TechSmith offers support for Camtasia. Alternatively, ask questions or get help from Camtasia experts with the TechSmith community site. Camtasia Considerations Camtasia is only available for macOS and Windows devices, not Chromebooks or mobile devices. On Camtasia 23 or later, you need a free TechSmith account to license Camtasia for use. After installation, you'll be asked to log in. Learn how to make a TechSmith account. Plan Your Content: Outline your video beforehand to keep it concise and focused, which saves editing time and enhances clarity. Start with Basic Editing: Familiarize yourself with simple edits like trimming and cutting before exploring advanced features to avoid feeling overwhelmed. AI to the rescue! Save and Backup Often: Regularly save your project and back it up to avoid losing your work due to software crashes or accidental deletions. Don't delete your content! Camtasia will not import the media you're using in your project unless you save. So, if something is deleted, it will disappear from your timeline. Save often to avoid this common frustration. Install Camtasia for macOS
Camtasia provides screen recording and video editing capabilities, allowing users to capture on-screen activities, edit the recorded footage, add annotations, and create professional-looking videos. Camtasia is commonly used by educators, trainers, and content creators to produce instructional videos, software demonstrations, and other multimedia content. To download and install Camtasia for macOS: Download the latest version of Camtasia. Run the installer. Finish installation by dragging Camtasia to your Apps folder. Launch Camtasia. Choose Sign In. Log in with your TechSmith account. Select Launch Desktop App to open Camtasia. Choose Enter Software Key. Enter the license key, obtained from the Download Center. Unlock Camtasia and Get Started. In-Depth Walkthrough Step 1: Download Camtasia Open the download page for the latest version of Camtasia. The download should start automatically, but if it doesn't, select the Download Camtasia (Mac) button. Step 2: Run the Installer Locate the installer, named 'Camtasia License.dmg' within the Downloads area of your web browser, or the Downloads area of your Finder application Read through the end-user license agreement and choose Agree to continue with the installation. Step 3: Copy Camtasia to Applications To install Camtasia, click and drag the Camtasia app icon on the left into the application folder on the right. Note: A progress meter may temporarily show up. Wait patiently for the install to finish. Step 4: Remove the Camtasia Installer On your desktop, right-click on the Camtasia drive icon that appeared and choose Eject "Camtasia". This step simply removes the installer from your computer to free up space as Camtasia is now installed. Step 5: Open Camtasia Open Camtasia. You can find Camtasia in your Applications folder. Click the Finder icon in the Dock, then 1) Choose Applications in the sidebar of the Finder window, then 2) Double-click the Camtasia 2023 app. Note: Looking for other ways to find Camtasia? Step 6: Launch Camtasia and Sign In with an Account Upon opening Camtasia, you will see a "Welcome to Camtasia!" pop-up. Click on the Sign In button and log in with your TechSmith account credentials. Don't have a TechSmith account? Choose the Sign up option and create a free TechSmith account or follow our guide. Step 7: Agree to the Terms of Service Once you've logged in or created your TechSmith account 1) Agree to the TechSmith Terms of Service 2) Continue and 3) Select the Launch Desktop App button if Camtasia hasn't opened back up. If you created an account and don't see the Launch Desktop App option, try going back and choosing the Sign in option in Camtasia. Step 8: License Camtasia for Use Choose Enter Software Key. It's recommended to leave the destination folder, start after install, and default library assets alone. Step 5 You may be asked, "Do you want to allow this app to make changes..." Choose Yes to proceed. Wait patiently as the installer runs... Depending on your device, this could take seconds to several minutes. Note: If you are prompted for a username and password, try installing Camtasia from the Company Portal on your Windows device. If you don't know or don't have the company portal option, contact the UIW Help Desk to complete the installation. Step 6 Once the installation is finished, choose Finish. Step 7 Upon opening Camtasia, if it doesn't open automatically, you'll get an "A Quick Question" pop-up. Choose an option and select Submit to continue... Step 8 Upon opening Camtasia, you will see a "Welcome to Camtasia!" pop-up. Select the Sign In button and log in with your TechSmith account credentials. Don't have a TechSmith account? Creating a TechSmith Account to Use Camtasia
Current versions of Camtasia, including 2023 and beyond, may require the use of a TechSmith account to license and use the product. This means, that before you can download, install, and use Camtasia, you need to create a TechSmith account. Open the TechSmith website. Choose the 'Sign Up' option. Enter your UIW email address. In-Depth Walkthrough Step 1 Open the TechSmith website and choose the Sign Up option. Step 2 Enter your UIW email address into the email field and select Continue. Note: You do not have to use your UIW email address, but it is recommended. Step 3 Next, 1) set the password for your TechSmith account. This password can be anything you'd like and 2) select Continue. Note: This password does not sync with your Cardinal Apps password. It is an entirely separate password for an account that is not associated with UIW. Done. Your TechSmith account has been created. You can now license and use products like Camtasia.
