It's important to save your work in your UIW OneDrive to successfully use this method for submitting an assignment in Canvas. Do not use a personal Microsoft account. Step 2 Click the title of the assignment that you'd like to submit. Step 3 Under the Choose a Submission type, click the more option, and select Microsoft OneDrive from the drop-down menu. Step 4 Within the assignment window, you'll see a prompt to sign in using a Microsoft account. Use your UIW email and password to sign in. File Upload Canvas Assignment: Submit a Recording from a Microsoft Teams Meeting
In some cases, you may need to record a group discussion, interview, or session for an assignment. While there are several recording tools available to the UIW community, such as Stream and Clipchamp, these tools are designed for individual recordings. To record multiple people's video and audio, it's best to create a Teams meeting. Recordings from Teams are automatically sent to OneDrive. You can use the OneDrive submission option in Canvas to avoid downloading and uploading large files. This guide will walk you through the entire process. Schedule a Teams Meeting There are various ways to schedule a Teams meeting and share the invitation with others. This guide will assume that you are using a laptop and scheduling from Outlook with a calendar invite, which is the most recognizable method. If you prefer to schedule from the Teams app on a desktop or a mobile device, you can learn how to schedule from the Teams app on a desktop or mobile. To schedule your Teams meeting: Log in to Cardinal Apps Open Outlook/Email Select Calendar Select New event Turn on the Teams meeting toggle 6. Add meeting details and invite attendees by entering their email addresses. Invited attendees will receive an email/calendar invitation to the Teams meeting. Date/time details are purely for scheduling purposes. You can start the meeting at any time and close/reopen the meeting as needed. 7. When you're invitation is complete, select Send Join the Teams Meeting Next, you'll need to start the meeting and record the session. To start a Teams meeting: Log in to Cardinal Apps Open Teams Select Calendar Locate and select the meeting invite. Select Join to start the Teams meeting and Join Now to enter the meeting. Record the Meeting Once the meeting has started and all participants are in place, you can record the meeting to create a video for submission at a later time. This guide will provide a high-level explanation of recording and retrieving the recording. For a more in-depth guide on recordings in Teams meetings, learn all about recording in Microsoft Teams. To record a Teams meeting: Within the Teams meeting, select More actions Select Record and transcribe Select Start Recording Here are some tips for successful recording during a Teams meeting: A 'Transcript' panel will appear once the recording is enabled. You can close this panel without stopping the recording. If there's an issue, you can stop and re-start the recording as many times as needed from the same More actions > Record and transcribe menu. Each time you re-start the recording, it becomes a separate video file to submit, so you don't need to worry about editing the video. Meeting recordings won't capture more than four people's video streams at once. If someone prominent needs to be captured at all times, consider spotlighting their video. After the Meeting The recording will continue until it's manually stopped or the meeting ends. The meeting ends when everyone leaves or the organizer ends it. Depending on the length of the recording, the video could take seconds to several minutes to become available post-meeting. After the meeting, recordings will be saved to one location: the 'Recordings' folder within the scheduler's OneDrive portal. There is only one recording file, and it belongs to the person who scheduled the meeting. That doesn't mean only one person can submit it, but we'll cover that in the next section. Submit the Recording to Canvas Carefully read the assignment details to ensure the video recording meets the instructor's expectations. For the best results, consider the following: We recommend using a laptop/desktop with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to submit the assignment. Using Safari or Firefox may cause issues. If you experience problems with submitting a OneDrive assignment, clear your browser history/cache or enable cookies for Canvas URLs in your browser. You cannot select OneDrive for submissions within the Canvas Student mobile app. If you're on a mobile device, you'll need to use Google Chrome, or download the video from OneDrive to the mobile device and submit the file. When you're ready to submit: Navigate to the assignment page within Canvas. Select New Attempt Select OneDrive If prompted, select Sign In and choose your uiwtx.edu email from the list of options. If you experience an error loading the OneDrive window, see the FAQ section for troubleshooting. Within the OneDrive window, find and choose the recording from the Teams meeting. Meeting recording files are identified by the unique file name with the meeting title, followed by the date and time. The location will differ depending on your role in the meeting. Scheduler: If you scheduled the meeting and sent the invite, the recording will be in the 'Recordings' folder. Attendee: If you did not schedule the meeting, you are an 'attendee'. This means, the recording can be found via the 'Shared' menu on the left side of the OneDrive window. 5. When you've selected the file, select Submit to use it as your assignment attempt. 6. Add comments, if needed, and select Submit Assignment. FAQ I get an error when loading the OneDrive window for the assignment, or nothing happens. Ensure you're using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a laptop/desktop to submit the assignment. If this is still happening, try the following: Clear your browser history/cache Try enabling cookies for Canvas URLs in your browser I cannot find the recording of the meeting. Recordings will be automatically sent to the 'Recordings' folder within the scheduler's OneDrive portal. OneDrive can be accessed from Cardinal Apps. Contact the individual who scheduled the meeting. If you are that individual, and the recording still cannot be found, contact the UIW Help Desk for your local Technical Support Specialist or assistance. I want to use Safari or Firefox, no matter what. While it's healthy to have more than one web browser on your device, there may be some situations where this is not possible. If Safari or Firefox are the only options you have, you can use them to submit the assignment after you adjust a setting known as Cross-site tracking. This is because, normally, they'll block the OneDrive window from loading. Adjusting cross-site tracking will allow the window to load successfully in most situations.
