Print Installation, Set Up, & Use - MAC
This tutorial will walk users through the steps necessary to set up a Mac computer to print to the UIW Print program. In order to connect to the UIW print system, instructions must be completed while connected to the UIW wireless or wired network. Install the PPC Client Software 1. Connect to the print server via Finder > Go > Connect to Server, or use the keyboard shortcut Command (⌘) + K 2. Once the Connect to Server window pops up, enter smb://uiw-sprint1/PCClient as the server address and click Connect 3. After clicking Connect, another window will pop up asking for your username and password. Please note that you will need to delete the current name in the ‘Name’ field and enter your Cardinal Apps username and password. Don’t forget to add ad\ in front of your username. 4. Once connected, double click on the Mac folder. Find the ‘client-local-install’ program and double click on it to install. 5. You will then be prompted to install the PCClient into the Applications folder. Click Yes. The window will disappear and will take up to a minute to install, depending on system age. 6. When installed successfully, a login window will appear. Enter your Cardinal Apps username and password. Don’t forget to tick the box for ‘Remember my identity. 7. After login, the PaperCut Client window will run in the background on the desktop. Your account balance will show in the window. If you’d like for the PaperCut Client to auto start after a reboot, please continue following the guide. The UIW Help Desk highly recommends this, as it will help alleviate any issues regarding the PaperCut Client in the future. If not, please continue to the Installing the Xerox Driver package section. 8. Open System Preferences and select Users and Groups 9. Once open, click on Login items, and then click the plus sign (+) to add the PCClient 10. A Finder window will open. Select the Applications folder under ‘Favorites’ and scroll to find the PCClient application. Once selected, click add. You may need to click the back button and then Users & Groups again for the PCCLient application to show up under the Login items. You can also tick the ‘Hide’ box if you don’t want to see any kind of window or notification upon login. Install the Xerox Driver package Due to known issues with BigSur and SMB file sharing, we will need to re-connect to the print server. 1. Connect to the print server via Finder > Go > Connect to Server, or use the keyboard shortcut Command (⌘) + K 2. This time we can delete PCClient and add XeroxDrivers. The final name should read smb://uiw-sprint1/XeroxDrivers. Once entered, click Connect. You should not have to re-enter your Cardinal Apps username and password 3. After connecting, look for XeroxDrivers_xxxxxxxx.dmg. Once found, double click on it to open. Please note that as Xerox publishes new drivers, the version will change. Your version may be different than the one indicated below. 4. After unpacking, double click on the Xerox Drivers xxxxx.pkg to install 5. After launching, click continue throughout the process to complete the installation. You may see a message stating a program will be ran in order to determine if the software can be installed. Click Allow. 6. When you see the screen that says ‘Select a Printer’, click Continue. We will add the printer manually later. You may see a ‘Print Queue Not Created’ message, you can click Continue. The installation is now complete and all drivers have been installed successfully Install the Print Anywhere Printer 1. Open System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners 2. Once open, click the plus (+) button near the bottom left of the Printers & Scanners window to add the printer 3. After the Add Printer window opens, select the globe icon in the middle (may say IP if using an older version of MacOS) and fill out the following information: Address: uiw-sprint1.ad.uiwtx.edu Protocol: Line Printer Daemon – LPD (should be selected by default) Queue: UIW Print Anywhere Mac Name: this can be whatever you’d like. We recommend UIW Print Anywhere Mac Use: Xerox Altalink C8045 (Click the dropdown menu > select Software > search for Altalink C8045 and then click OK) After the information is entered, click Add. Set Mac Default Print Driver Settings 1. Use the Spotlight in the Menu bar to search for Terminal. Once typed, press enter 2. Once the Terminal is open, type cupsctl WebInterface=yes and press enter. 3. Close out of the Terminal, and open the web browser of your choice (Chrome, Firefox or Safari). In the address bar type (or copy): http://localhost:631/printers 4. Select the UIW Print Anywhere Mac (or your custom name from step 3 above) 5. Click on the drop-down menu that says ‘Administration’, and select ‘Set Default Options’ 6. In the General tab, we’ll change the paper type to Letter (8.5 x 11”) 7. In the Paper Output tab, we’ll change 2-Sided Printing and Xerox Black and White 2-Sided Printing: 2-Sided Print Xerox Black and White: On 8. Next, we’ll continue to the Advanced Tab, changing the XRBannerSheet to Off 9. Once completed, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Set Default Options’ button. When prompted, enter your Mac username and password You are now set to print! If you experience any issues or errors, please call the Help Desk so we may assist you.

PaperCut Troubleshooting – Mac
This tutorial will walk you through the steps necessary to troubleshoot issues in printing to the UIW Print system. In order to connect and print, these instructions must be completed while connected to the UIW wireless (not uiw-guest) or wired network. If you have not installed the PaperCut client, Xerox drivers, and UIW Print Anywhere Mac printer, click here (Print Install - Mac ). 1. Please verify that you are not connected to the ‘uiw-guests’ wireless network. If you are, please connect to uiw-employees or uiw-students. 2. Next, make sure the PaperCut client is running. To check, look in the menu bar at the top of your screen for a green or gray ‘P’. 3. If you do not see the icon, click the Spotlight Search icon or use the keyboard shortcut of CMD (⌘)+spacebar to launch the Spotlight Search window. Once open, type ‘PCClient’ and select the PCClient application 4. Once the PaperCut Client launches, a login window will appear. Please enter your UIW username and password (same as Cardinal Apps), check the ‘Remember my identity’ box and click OK 5. When you submit a document for print, another dialog box will show requiring you to log in a second time. Enter your UIW credentials and change the ‘Remember’ option to ‘Always’ Please note that after a reboot, the PCClient may not start automatically. UIW Print Installation - PC
This tutorial will walk users through the steps necessary to set up a Windows-based PC to print to the UIW Managed Print program. In order to connect to UIW printers, instructions must be completed while connected to the UIW wireless or wired network. There are three scenarios for PC’s: 1. UIW issued computer joined to the AD domain 2. UIW issued computer joined to a workgroup 3. Personal PC Scenario 1. UIW issued on Domain: 1. Click on the start button and type the following: \\uiw-sprint1.ad.uiwtx.edu to browse to the print server. You can also type this into the White search bar in the bottom left of the screen. Hit ENTER. You’ll see shared folders and printers. 2. Double-click on ‘UIW Print Anywhere PC’ to install the printer. Alternately you can right-click and ‘connect’ to install the printer too. Scenario 2 & 3 Set up instructions: 1. Browse to the print server. Click on Start, type ‘\\uiw-sprint1.ad.uiwtx.edu 2. You will be challenged for credentials, username, and password. Enter the username like “ad\” and your network(email) password. 3. Double-click on PCClient, then double-click the ‘win’ folder. 4. Double-click ‘client-install-local’ to start the installation process. 5. When prompted, click yes, Accept Agreement, next, next, install. In other words, accept defaults. 6. When the installation completes, run the program and sign into the client with your network credentials. You do not need to add the ‘ad\’ to your username here. 7. Now we can install the printer. Browse to the print server, \\uiw-sprint1.ad.uiwtx.edu, double-click on the ‘UIW Print Anywhere Mac’ printer. Yes, that’s not a typo, choose the ‘UIW Print Anywhere Mac’ printer. If the PaperCut client software isn’t running, you won’t be able to print. It will look like you printed successfully, but there won’t be any documents waiting in the virtual print queue when you log into a printer and select Print Release. We’ll place a shortcut to the program in the startup folder to make sure the client software runs when you restart the computer or log in. 1. Open windows explorer (window key+e or click the folder icon in the taskbar) 2. Navigate to ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\PaperCut MF Client’, right-click pc-client.exe, and send to desktop 3. Navigate to your desktop, find the shortcut just created, right-click on it and choose ‘cut’. 4. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp, right-click and choose ‘paste’ in the window. If prompted for permission, choose ‘Continue’. To test successful installation, open a document and try to print. Choose the print anywhere mac printer, then print. The papercut client will pop up and ask you to log in one last time. Enter your network username and password again and change the ‘until I log out’ option to ‘Always’, click ok. Find a printer, swipe your ID card or login manually, select print release and you should see your document waiting to be released. Periodically you will need to renew your authentication with the print server. You can tell if this is required if you can’t connect to the printer or you get access denied when you try to print. Just click on Start and type \\uiw-sprint1.ad.uiwtx.edu, enter your credentials when prompted, click ok and you should see the shared folders and printers on the server. When entering a username, it must be in the ad\username format.

PaperCut Print Deploy
Introduction PaperCut Print Deploy is a utility that can be installed in both macOS and Windows that will make it easier to install campus printers. It can be used on all UIW-owned and personal computers by current faculty, staff, and students. It provides a list of printers that are available to install based on department, current campus location or preference and communicates with UIW's PaperCut system so will only work while on UIW's network. It works while plugged in to an Ethernet connection and on wireless networks uiw-employees and uiw-students. PaperCut Print Deploy uses a client's UIW username and password for authentication. Step 1 To install Print Deploy log into Cardinal Apps and open the PaperCut application. In the left navigation pane select the Print Deploy option for your operating system, Windows or Mac: This will open the download page for the Print Deploy Client. Select Download and then run the installer accepting the default options. Step 2 Add printers with Print Deploy The Print Deploy app is accessible from your system tray on Windows or from your menu bar on Mac. Click on the icon and choose "View my printers" to open the app. Windows: Mac: The first time you use Print Deploy you will be prompted to sign in. Use your UIW username and password and check the Don't show me this again box: Step 3 After signing in, when you first launch the app you will see a screen that says "We can't find any printers for you": Step 4 Click " Add printers" in the left side bar to find the list of printers available for you to install. Print Deploy will add these print queues to your printer list, and you'll print just like normal. Step 5 In conjunction with Print Deploy, installing the PaperCut Client facilitates authentication for personal or Intune-deployed UIW workstations. 1. UIW issued computer joined to the AD domain 2.
