SoftChalk Cloud helps instructors create engaging and interactive learning content to use in their Canvas course. A SoftChalk Cloud account is necessary to access full features and get started. Open the SoftChalk account creation page. Fill out the Create My SoftChalk Cloud Account form. For the Activation Key, enter: Ghn0HaAVZt5YpJme9fQM For Institution/Company, enter: UIW For Organization Website URL, enter: https://www.uiw.edu/ Select the boxes to agree to the Terms of Use and Developers Agreement. Create a SoftChalk Assignment in Canvas
This guide covers the steps of creating a SoftChalk assignment in your Canvas course. Instructors are encouraged to recommend students use Mozilla Firefox or Safari for the best SoftChalk user experience. Make this recommendation in your assignment instructions. Navigate to Canvas course through Cardinal Apps. Click Assignments in the course navigation bar. Click +Assignment. Fill in the assignment details: Name, Description, Points, etc. In the submission type, select External Tool. Choose SoftChalk Link Selector. You may be prompted to sign in. Choose the lesson and click Select for LTI Link. Choose Load This Tool In A New Tab. Click Save & Publish your assignment. Need more detail? Submit a SoftChalk Assignment in Canvas
For Canvas courses using SoftChalk assignments, students are advised to use only Mozilla Firefox or Safari. Using any other web browser can prevent the “Finish” button at the end of SoftChalk assignments from displaying and your work will not be saved or submitted. To avoid losing your work, locate the Finish button before you begin to ensure you won't have any problems completing the assignment. In the Canvas course where the SoftChalk assignment is located, open the assignment. Read the instructions provided by your teacher. Click Continue to acknowledge the message that states that you must click the Finish button on the last page. You may see an option to resume work if your teacher used the setting for multiple attempts. Once you begin, you may see a Finish button on each question. Click Finish to save your work. Ensure you click Finish at the end to submit your entire assignment. SoftChalk Assignment Submission FAQ What should I do if I am unable to submit my SoftChalk assignment? Grade a SoftChalk Assignment in Canvas
This guide walks you through the steps of grading a SoftChalk assignment in your Canvas course. We recommend you promote Mozilla Firefox and Safari for an optimal student experience with SoftChalk. Currently, Canvas SpeedGrader does not display student responses to SoftChalk assignments. This means that instructors must grade the assignment through the SoftChalk ScoreCenter located in the Canvas assignment. Navigate to the Canvas course through Cardinal Apps. Click Assignments in the course navigation menu. Select the Canvas assignment you are using with SoftChalk. Choose the student's name in the ScoreCenter table for details on the assignment page. Click the details under Status to open the student submission. Click the circle icon to see the student's work. Select the Grade Essay button. After entering your Score and Feedback, click Save.
